The ecological Dimenstion

In the 60's of the 20. Century the effects of the environmental pollution and the limitation of natural resources became ever clearer. The society became conscious that an unlimited economic growth was not possible without irreversible damage of nature. A human beeing as a member in the ecological system finally endanger his own existence by its destruction. Out of that, the realization arose that humans can only survive if he treats nature as a partner instead of as a dictator.

The perception of environmental problems changed in the course of the decades. In the 70's the point of view focus got set scarceness of resources, today the problem is the longer the more seen in the receptiveness of the environment. The “Protection against load” [1] of the environment and humans as well as ”careful handling of natural resources” [2] became promoted to the central aspect of the today's environmental policy.

The ecological behavior of an enterprise

An enterprise will organize its ecological behavior either actively or passively. A passive policy means the adherence to the prescribed ecological standards, whereby the enterprise will not go beyond this demanded minimum in its actions. An enterprise acts actively, if it realizes the ecological responsibility without outside obligation, and imposes itself additional measures in favour of the natural environment.
